Secga is an enthusiastic amateur theatre company based at The Towers Theatre, Tettenhall College, Tettenhall, Wolverhampton. The company produces three plays each year, performing at the historic Towers Theatre in October, April and July. Additionally we present a selection of festive readings and music in December under the generic title Christmas at the Towers.
Rehearsals are held at The Towers on Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm for approximately eight to ten weeks before each production with an occasional Sunday afternoon rehearsal added in as the play draws nearer! Rehearsals take place on stage whenever possible.
Secga started life in 1968 in the Sedgley area. Its unusual name comes from the Anglo-Saxon for Sedgley, but appropriately also means ‘one who tells’! It has been based at various times at Sedgley Parish Hall, Colton Hills School and St Paul’s Church; at the Beacon Centre for the Blind and The Mill Theatre, before settling now in the wonderfully historic and academic atmosphere of Tettenhall College.
We are always keen to welcome new members to the company, so if you fancy yourself as a bit of a thespian or would simply like to help out with the many backstage jobs that go into creating one of our productions please get in touch. We would love to see you!
